Gas Cylinder Coatings

Coatings for the Gas Cylinder Market

The WSR series coatings were designed as the first true water-reducible alkyd coatings for use on the exterior of high pressure industrial gas cylinders.  WSR stands for Water-reducible, Spray or Roll.

This product has a viscosity that is high enough that it can be brushed or rolled with pipe rollers yet is low enough in viscosity that it can be sprayed straight from the bucket with airless equipment or from conventional spray equipment with minimal thinning.  Of course being water-based, thinning is with water and clean-up is with water as long as the material is wet.  Once the coating is dried it must be removed with a mild solvent.

These are high gloss, single component, very fast dry water-reducible enamels that are available in all standard cylinder colors, including metallics.  Custom colors are available as are matching aerosols for touch-up of cylinders or for painting cylinder caps, collars and neck rings.

A newer version of the WSR series cylinder coatings is WAS series coatings.  The WAS series coatings are a spray viscosity version of the standard WSR coatings.  With a lower viscosity but the same amount of solid paint in each bucket, this product is recommended for high volume conventional spray facilities who want to avoid having to thin a product and just want to spray straight from the bucket.  WAS series products have the same product numbers as their WSR counterparts (i.e. WSR624 is the same as WAS624) and are priced the same.

Aerosols matching the standard cylinder coatings are available and are identified by the same color number preceded by an S and ending with an A (i.e. S624A is an aerosol that matches both WSR624 and WAS624).
